Die Houthuis

Die Houthuis stands out as a unique rustic getaway, where even the strongest hair products can't hold up.
Established in 1968, it began as an old school building sold by the Milnerton Jewish Guild to Laubscher van der Merwe for R400, with minimal renovation costs.
The grand opening in 1970 featured potjiekos and lively dancing, and the venue has been a social hub ever since.
Nestled by the river, this timber hall accommodates 12 - 16 in a dormitory style, with options for camping outside. Inside, it boasts a spacious layout with a large fireplace and an open kitchen.

The kitchen is tidy and well-equipped, though the low ceiling can make it hot in summer. Fortunately, a sprinkler system can cool things down quickly.
Outside, enjoy a braai area, a couple of canoes, tractor tubes, a raft, and a foefie slide, which was built in 1980 and even used by a 72-year-old grandmother.

If you appreciate a communal atmosphere over personal space and modern amenities, Die Houthuis is the perfect spot for you.
